Heterojunction Solar Cell Integration Specialist (m/f)

(Leuven, Belgium)

In general you will take up the responsibility for the development and implementation of process flows for advanced and novel types of heterojunction solar cells on crystalline Si substrates with a thickness below 100 µm.

Job description:

  • Integrating heterojunction technology into solar cells based on thin crystalline-silicon wafers and on thin crystalline-silicon layers.
  • Continuously enhancing the expertise level in the field of heterojunction solar cells with crystalline Si base, and in particular for heterojunction solar cells with interdigitated back junction and back contacts (IBC).
  • Developing the path towards very high efficiency heterojunction solar cells based on a quantification of the remaining device losses (optical losses, recombination at interfaces and the bulk, resistance losses in the transparent contacts, etc). As such, you require and develop a lot of insight into the device physics of this type of solar cell.
  • You will work together in a team of researchers focusing on the development of highly efficient back junction solar cells with crystalline Si base.

Your profile:

  • You have a PhD degree (or comparable through proven experience) in  photovoltaics, preferably specialized in heterojunctions.
  • You have at least 2 years of relevant experience in a-Si/c-Si heterojunction solar cell processing/development and a good insight in the device physics of such heterojunction cells.
  • Relevant experience in interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells is a plus.
  • You have the will to become and stay an expert in your research domain.
  • You are a team player with excellent communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English.

Benefits

  • A challenging adequately paid position in an advanced high-tech environment, in an international, interdisciplinary team.
  • You will have the opportunity to contribute to technologies that will impact the society of tomorrow.
  • Imec offers various training possibilities and social services, such as a company restaurant, the possibility of day care, and discounts in different sport clubs and shops.
